BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION

BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION

Cost-benefit research demonstrates the value of SEL programs. A Columbia University report from 2015 found an average return on investment for six evidence-based programs of 11 to 1, meaning for every dollar invested there is an $11 return on investment.

Bring Training to Schools

EMC Education has an established partnership with John Jenson. As an author, producer, and speaker, John has a wealth of experience teaching school leaders how to promote education in a way that drives success for students, educators, and their communities. John has spent the past 20 years teaching professionals to present themselves and their organizations at the highest possible level.

John Arroyo

Dr. John M. Arroyo Jr. is a retired U.S. Army veteran from California. He is married to Angel Arroyo, and they have three children. John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1998 and spent most of his 20-year career as a Green Beret, assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. John has been deployed twice to Afghanistan and once to Iraq. He is a survivor of the April 02, 2014, mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the neck and paralysis of the right arm. Doctors told John's family that they did not have a medical explanation for how he survived his injuries.

John is a highly sought-after motivational speaker known for his energetic style. He is a gifted communicator who speaks in various settings. John's primary message centers around getting up. He illustrates this through his life experiences. He speaks about relevant issues to his audience and provides concrete solutions to real-life challenges. His dynamic energy, honest transparency, and vivid storytelling profoundly impact those who hear him speak, often leading to transformation and growth.

Collect Data

EMC will gather data from The Pulse survey. The Pulse, developed by Search Institute in partnership with Jostens, is a brief scientifically validated online survey that gathers and summarizes perceptions from students, teachers, and the community on the ways students and educators are recognized, encouraged, and rewarded in their schools. No two school districts are the same and no two schools within a district have the same needs. EMC Education Fund recognizes this truth. With the help of John Jenson, and utilizing data from The Pulse survey, EMC will provide specific resources to improve connections and ultimately graduate college and professional career-ready students at higher rates than ever before.

Professional Training

The EMC Fund will provide teachers with SEL training, courses, and awareness to impact academics through mental health, skills development, and school culture. Students spend the majority of their school day in classrooms, and these spaces are at the heart of the learning process. In classrooms, students can learn and practice SEL through explicit instruction, trusting relationships, and academic integration.

Teacher Retention and Acquisition

Because SEL works, teachers will feel empowered and equipped. In addition, your support will allow the school to attract new teachers, intervention specialists, and part-time support as schools implement Each Child, Our Future.

Scholarships

Provide tuition assistance to a high school graduate who wishes to attend vocational training or 2 or 4-year higher education.
